Ahvery,  of the 20th anniversary of State the Gombe state government has approved the renaming of the major institutions , places. The following areasons.  of the renamed places.

1. Gombe state University now Bubayero University.

2. Pantami Stadium now A.B.M stadium.

3. Gombe International airport now Sani

Abacha International Airport, Gombe

4. Investment quarters now Danjuma Goje

quarters.

5. Shango Housing Estate now Hashidu estate.

6. College of Education, Billiri now Illiyasu

Maiyamba College of Education, Billiri.

7. Polytechnic Bajoga now Muhammad

However this will depend on the student of Gombe State University to either protest or see the name of their institution being change for political reasons.
